It’s back to school and for some it is your last school year! We had an amazing Prom season in 2017 and 2018 is going to be bigger and better than ever!
This is our guide to Prom dress shopping & we hope its helpful to all the girls already thinking about the big event next year
Where to Purchase?
You have a few options when purchasing your gown …
You can visit a specialist boutique like ourselves if you want something no one else will be wearing. We run a prom registry to ensure the same dress isn’t sold twice to the same school, not even in a different colour, so no doublers!
You can also buy online if you want to save some money, but buyer beware, buying online comes with an element of risk and you don’t always get what you order ... if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!
Your Granny was right – Buy Cheap, Buy Twice!
The high street is your third option and there is more on the market on the high street than ever before … fingers crossed someone at your school doesn’t have the same dress!
When to Purchase?
If you’re a savvy girl you might have already picked something up in the 2017 Prom sales. This is a budget friendly option for those who are super organised.
Most of our Prom stock will start arriving in November and everything should be here by January. We will start out (with a special early bird offer in Nov/Dec) with our special order dresses, you just pick the style you like, select a colour and the dress will be made just for you! We can special order through until March/April and then we will move to off the rack as it will be too late to guarantee Prom delivery.
How does it work?
Just make an appointment to visit the boutique when you are ready to buy and make sure you bring anyone who’s opinion is important to you. You can try on as many dresses as you like and we can take you through the colour swatches. We’ll measure you and order the dress in your nearest size, 14-16 weeks later your dress will arrive and you can come to collect it!
Once you have your dress!
You may need some alterations once you purchase your dress, this is common and we can recommend a seamstress. The most common alterations are hems, bust and waist reductions, you might want to budget an additional £50-£70 for alterations.
Last year our dresses ranged from £89 - £300 to allow us to cater for as broad a spectrum of customer as possible. We always try to have a good selection of dresses across the price ranges so we can cater for as many girls as possible, we think our pricing is competitive and not excessive! We have all of our dress prices on our website for you so you can see what dresses we have in your price range.
When you special order a dress we will ask for a 50% deposit for your order to be placed and then the other 50% is paid when you pick your dress up. This helps you split your cost, and in the 14-16 weeks before pickup you can pay your dress up monthly or weekly if this suits you better!
We hope this helps you get organised and have a better understanding of the whole process! We're really looking forward to Prom season, we have so much fun with you all & cant wait to see you at the Boutique!
